A local-first roofing estimation prototype built with Python, Next.js, and PostgreSQL. It links extracted PDF measurements to their source, supports human correction and verification, and calculates material and labor estimates with deterministic formulas. Optional satellite roof tracing and source-linked supplier price research extend the workflow.
SatelliteRoofs is a local-first roofing report review and estimating prototype built with Python, FastAPI, Next.js, and PostgreSQL.
The core workflow uploads a text-based measurement PDF, links extracted measurements to their source, allows human corrections and verification, and generates a material and labor estimate with PDF export. The calculation engine uses deterministic decimal arithmetic rather than relying on AI for mathematical accuracy.
The optional map workflow supports satellite navigation, editable roof outlines, multiple roof sections, layer ordering, and preliminary budgets based on visible assumptions. Optional AI features assist with document interpretation and supplier-price research, with source links and review before applying prices.
Verification includes 69 backend tests, 10 geometry tests, and 34 browser checks, plus passing GitHub Actions. The repository includes screenshots and a captioned walkthrough recorded with a synthetic report and zero paid API calls.
This is an independent working prototype. Real provider layouts still need validation, scanned PDFs require manual entry, material prices and assemblies are demonstration configurations, and CRM integration and production handoff are not complete.
